Understanding Addiction Workshop Modules
- MODULE 1
Why do people become addicted?
The first module of our addiction workshop is centred around the triggers and causes of addictions. Addiction is often the result of a person seeking an escape from their own lives. We explore how past events and traumas almost always contribute to someone developing an addiction.
- MODULE 2
How should you act (or react) if someone you love is dealing with an addiction?
In this module, you will explore the correct actions to take when someone close to you is struggling with an addiction. People with addictions deserve understanding and compassion. The understanding addiction workshop will help you discover how to react appropriately and constructively.
- MODULE 3
Become aware of the effects of alcohol, both short term and long term.
Alcohol is the most commonly abused narcotic in the world. Just because it is commonplace does not mean it’s healthy – even “harmless” binges can have a serious effect on a person’s life. This module will explore the topic in-depth.
- MODULE 4
How do you manage to live a fulfilling life when you bring and end to your addiction?
Overcoming addiction is difficult, but the life you lead afterwards is the most important factor in avoiding a relapse. This module of Understanding Addiction will help you figure out how to carry on and appreciate your life, even on the worst of days.
- MODULE 5
What are the danger signs of impending relapse?
The only way to avoid a relapse is to anticipate and prepare. This module is about learning your triggers – certain behaviours, patterns or feelings that present themselves in the lead-up to a relapse. If you can understand and learn about your addiction, you can overcome it for good.
